About JaM

JaM is short for "Joshua (my amazingly handsome hubby) and Mikaila (that's me!)." Here is just a little bit about each of us, as well as our little Kaiya! Please note that this list of attributes/hobbies/enjoyments/quirks is not complete because we are constantly changing and learning about one another and ourselves!

Mikaila:

• Grew up in the good old Midwest (Kansas to be exact-and no I do not own red, glittery shoes or have a dog named Toto).
• Loves thunderstorms-the rain, the lightning, the thunder, all of it! 
• Still can't decide what in the world I want to be "when I grow up." Teacher? Nurse? Dietician? Ugh...too many options. I'll just have to triple major I guess.
• Secretly wants to travel the world and teach my kids about different cultures...well, I guess that's not so much of a secret anymore!
• Loves to dance! Danced in high school and on the BYU Folk Dance Team; still dances in the kitchen with Joshua, dances to Just Dance 3 on the Wii...you name it, I love to dance it!
• Played the piano since I was 6...but you shouldn't expect too much because I hated practicing...
• Cooking skills are a work in progress!
• Loves learning!
• I have a MAJOR crush on a certain boy in my life...*cough cough* Joshua... ;)
• Have no problem singing to myself and feeling confident that I sound okay, but as soon as I am supposed to sing in front of other people, my voice seems to have mysteriously disappeared...
• Hopeless romantic. 
• Married at 18...baby at 19...what the?! It's true! And I wouldn't change it for the world :)
• Obsessed with Disney movies...especially Tangled! 
• Still trying to figure out who I am and what my mission is in life.
• I am passionate about maintaining strong families. Strong families shape a strong future. 
• I am a wife. I am a mother. And I love it.

Joshua:

• Has a giant cowlick in his hair that makes him look like a superhero! 
• He is one of the most patient and selfless people I know. 
• If he could eat cereal for every meal of every day, he'd be happy. 
• He has baby soft hands...always! They're softer than my hands! That's just not fair... :D
• His wardrobe=plaid and v-neck shirts 
• He is easily made happy...just give him a big bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough and he's in heaven!
• He makes the most ridiculous sounds imaginable to get Kaiya to crack a smile :D And I won't attempt to describe the sounds he makes to get Kaiya to giggle! 
• As ridiculous as those baby sounds are...they make me fall deeper and deeper in love with him every day.
• He thrives on interaction with people. 
• Sometimes, he makes me breakfast in bed for no reason in particular...just to show he loves me.
• He looks AMAZING in blue...yes pleeeease! 
• He loves to talk about his 2-year mission for our Church in Albania!
• Sometimes, he says something cute and romantic to me in Albanian, and even though I have no clue what he says, I know exactly what he means.
• Sometimes, he is so sweet with Kaiya that I want to burst into tears
• He is still a little boy at heart...in a good, sweet, innocent sort of way!
• He inspires me to try new things!

JaM:

• We like to make forts out of furniture and blankets 
• We quote Disney movies on a daily basis
• We believe that marriages and families can last forever
• We have an obsession with BBC's version of Pride and Prejudice!
• We love cooking together (even though he likes to experiment and I like to stay close to some kind of recipe)!
• We have some awesome Just Dance 3 parties together
• We like running+holding a conversation at the same time
• We think winter is the perfect excuse for hot chocolate and cuddling.
• We long for the day we can go on another cruise together!
• We have meaningful (as well as silly and not-so-meaningful) conversations...both of which I love!
• We can laugh at ourselves and our imperfections

Kaiya (pronounced Ky-uh):

• Is the cutest, sweetest, happiest baby girl in the world!
• Loves to chew/suck on things...especially her mommy and daddy's hand
• Has a smile that melts her parents' hearts
• Has a tendency to giggle in her sleep
• Is the kind of baby who makes people really want to have babies!
• Loves her pink elephant who sings Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to her...Seriously, if she's fussy, we just turn the elephant on and watch as her eyes light up and she begins to kick excitedly!
• Must have her milk a certain temperature or she will not eat it...uh oh, hopefully we don't have a picky eater on our hands?
• Is not a fan of tummy time and would much rather be able to sit up and see everything!
• Can make funny/awkward bodily noises seem like the cutest thing in the world! 
• Can belch like a man...no joke.
• Likes to smile at her daddy as he changes her diaper ("thanks daddy!")
• Is doomed to be a daddy's girl! She LOVES her daddy!
• Is the only person I know who can be completely awake one minute and fast asleep the next--if only I had that ability!
• Is growing like a weed...if only I could hold on to that little baby version of her forever
